Austin Eckroat picked up his 2nd win of the season with a one-stroke victory at the World Wide Technology Championship. Eckroat entered Sunday’s final round a stroke off the lead, but finished with a brilliant 9-under 63 to capture his 2nd career PGA Tour title.

Eckroat is a PING staffer and he plays exclusively PING. Most of his bag is identical to his win at the Cognizant Classic from earlier this year besides a change with his flatstick.

Driver: PING G430 LST

Shaft: Project HZRDUS Smoke Green 70 6.5 (tipped 1 inch)

Eckroat continues to deploy the PING G430 LST for his driver. He plays a 10.5 degree head down at 8.5 degrees with a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green 70 6.5 shaft in it and has it tipped 1 inch. Eckroat was excellent in driving accuracy, finding 51 of 56 fairways, which remarkably was only tied for the 29th most accurate off the tee. Accuracy is the name of the game for Eckroat, as he is by no means one of the longer players off the tee. He averaged 288.1 yards off the tee, which ranked as the 60th longest driving distance. But length clearly wasn’t the key to playing well this past week, and Eckroat took advantage of being in the fairway.

3-wood: PING G430 Max

Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X

Moving to the fairway wood section of Eckroat’s bag, where he games just a single PING G430 Max 3 Wood, though he plays the 15 degree head down at 14.25 degrees. While he opts for a low-spin model in his driver, Eckroat switches to the high MOI, high-launching Max Model for his 3-wood to give him a little more forgiveness for a club he uses from distance.

Irons: PING Blueprint S (3), PING Blueprint T (4-PW)

Shafts: Project X 6.5

For his irons, Eckroat combos a PING Blueprint S 3-iron with a set of PING Blueprint T’s. These were one of the stalwarts in his win. Eckroat hit 60 of 72 greens in regulation, an astounding 83.33 percent, which was tied for 8th best. But they also set Eckroat up to score, as he led the field in birdies, with 30 over the course of 72 holes.

Wedges: PING Glide Forged Pro (50-10S, 54-10S, 60-06T)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100

While all of Eckroat’s clubs so far have been current generation clubs, he goes back to the PING Glide Forged Pro’s for all three of his wedges. His wedges had their part in his Greens In Regulation performance, and certainly set himself up for many birdies, but they also helped limit damage. Eckroat got up-and-down on 8 of the 12 greens he missed, including going 1 of 2 from the sand, helping limit him to just 6 bogeys over the tournament, which was tied for 20th fewest bogeys among all players.

Putter: PING PLD DZB

The one switch Eckroat made from his Cognizant Classic win was with his putter, going from a PING Redwood D66 putter to a PLD DZB. While it’s a newer model, with the Redwood D66 coming out in 2006, he stays with a blade that has moderate toe hang for players with a moderate arc in their putting stroke. Eckroat’s putter was on fire all week. We’ve already mentioned he led the tournament in birdies, which is a testament to the putter itself, but he also was 4th in Putts per GIR, averaging 1.63 putts every time he found the green in regulation. When you’re hitting 60 greens in regulation, to have that great of an average is impressive and was one of the key reasons Eckroat found the winner’s circle once again.
