Sepp Straka raced out to the 54-hole lead at The American Express and never gave it back as he picked up his 3rd career PGA Tour win, and first since the 2023 John Deere Classic.

Straka won with a couple major brands in his bag, including a brand new iron combination.

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond

Shaft: Fujikura Ventus Blue (2024) 6 X

Straka starts his bag off with the now previous generation Callaway driver, opting for the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond. He plays it with a 9-degree head and a Fujikura Ventus Blue 6 X shaft in it. Straka was excellent off the tee at The American Express. While his 306.6 average off the tee ranked 46th best, his accuracy off the tee was exceptional, as he found over 73 percent of the fairways, which ranked 9th best for the tournament. That combination helped Straka gain 2.815 strokes on the field off the tee, which ranked 2nd among all players.

Fairway Woods: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond (3-Wood, 7-Wood)

Shafts: Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Red 80 TX (3W), Shaft: Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Orange 80 TX (7W)

Straka stays with Callaway for his fairway woods, and stays with the Ai Smoke Triple Diamond for both his 3-wood and his 7-wood. He games a pair of Mitsubishi Tensei shafts in them, with a 1K Red 80 TX in the 3-Wood and a 1K Orange 80 TX in the 7-Wood. Straka goes with a higher-launching shaft for his 3-wood, which isn't all that common on Tour, and then resorts to more of a mid-launch shaft in his 7-wood, which is a little more common. But going with the low-spin option for both his fairway woods is also unique, as you're seeing more players opt for more forgiving, higher launching options, but clearly it works for Straka's game.

Irons: Srixon ZXi5 (4-5), Srixon ZXi7 (6-9)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100

As we move to Straka's irons we get our first brand new in 2025 model, the Srixon ZXi irons. Straka combos a pair of ZXi5's in his long irons, with some ZXi7's in his short irons. The ZXi series features a new "Condensed Forging" process, which allows for a softer feel at impact. Srixon's testing shows the ZXi7's body material is 7% softer, and the face material in the ZXi5 and utility irons is 14% softer than the previous generation ZX Mk II irons. The ZXi's also contain improved MainFrame technology and an improved Tour V.T. sole for better turf interaction. These new irons were pretty dialed in for Straka, as he hit 60 of 72 greens in regulation for the tournament. That 83.33 percent GIR rate was tied for the best among all players. Though he hit most greens in regulation, he actually only gained 0.958 strokes on the field in his approach though, which was still good, but ranked just 31st overall for the week.

Wedges: Cleveland RTZ (46, 52, 56, 60 degrees)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400

Moving to the wedges, and we see another new addition to the bag with Straka putting four new Cleveland RTZ wedges into his bag. Like his Srixon irons, these Cleveland wedges are all about better feel with a new Z-alloy compound within them. They certainly played their role in his approach game and his exceptional GIR performance, but were also solid around the green. Straka converted 10 of his 12 scramble opportunities, which included going 2 for 3 from the sand. Overall, he gained 0.822 strokes on the field around the green, which was 27th best for the tournament.

Putter: Odyssey Tuttle Stroke Lab

Grip: SuperStroke Zenergy Pistol Tour

Finally, we get to Straka's putter where he still plays with the Odyssey Tuttle Stroke Lab Putter. It features no toe hang, ideally suited for players with little to no arc in their putting stroke, while providing them a highly forgiving option. This club was one of the best performers in Straka's win.  He made 181 feet of putts, which somehow only ranked 2nd overall, and his 1.58 putts per GIR ranked 9th. Factor in that he hit more greens in regulation than anyone else, and that performance shows how well he was putting. Overall, he gained 3.776 strokes on the field from the putting surface, which was 8th best overall, and one of the biggest factors in his 3rd career PGA Tour win.
