Sunday Swing | Cameron Young + Miyu Yamashita's WITBs

Welcome back to another edition of the Sunday Swing presented by 2nd Swing Golf. This week the PGA Tour was at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina for the regular season finale- the Wyndham Championship. Serving as the last event on the regular season schedule for many years now, the Wyndham represents the players last chance to qualify for the impending FedEx Cup playoffs.
Cameron Young has seemingly been a household name in the golf world for many years already, but shockingly he had still yet to win an event on the PGA Tour. Young joined the tour full time in 2022, when he won rookie of the year. He has already played in 93 events in his career, in which he’s posted 22 top-10 finishes and seven runner-up finishes.
Young had many close calls throughout this Tour season, but he saved his best for last. He took control of the tournament early with rounds of 62 and 63 on Thursday and Friday. He continued his hot streak on Saturday, shooting a round of 65 and growing his lead to five.
An opening bogey on Sunday briefly cast a glimmer of hope on the rest of the field. However, Young quickly removed that hope by promptly following up that bogey with five straight birdies to grow his lead to eight shots. He remained in cruise control the rest of the way, winning the event by six shots for his first career PGA Tour win. With his win, Young made PGA Tour history by becoming the 1,000th unique winner on the PGA Tour.
Winner’s Bag | Cameron Young
Titleist staffer Cam Young earned his maiden PGA Tour title on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship. Young rode accurate driving and a hot putter to the finish line, running away from the field at Sedgefield.

Driver: Titleist GT2 (9 degrees, D1 SureFit setting)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Orange 70 TX
Starting with the driver, Young plays the Titleist GT2 (9 degrees) with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Orange 70 TX shaft. Young has always been a bomber off the tee, but this week it was especially impressive. He finished second both in driving distance and strokes gained: off the tee.
3-wood: Titleist GT3 (15 degrees)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Tensei 1K White 80 TX
Young also carries a Titleist GT3 3-wood (15 degrees) with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K White 80 TX shaft, a weapon he used frequently as a tee club and contributed to the strokes gained numbers he recorded at Sedgefield.
Hybrid: Titleist GT2 (21 degrees)
Shaft: Fujikura Ventus HB Black Velocore+ 10 X
Young is one of many tour pros who swaps between a utility iron and hybrid depending on the course and conditions of the week. This week, he had a Titleist GT2 3-hybrid (21 degrees) with a Fujikura Ventus HB Black VeloCore+ 10X shaft in the bag.
Irons: Titleist T200 (4), Titleist T100 (5), Titleist 631.CY Prototype (6-9)
Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 (4-9)
Young’s setup with his irons is pretty unique. Not only is it a triple combo set, but it also contains his own personal prototype irons. His 4-iron is the 2023 T200 model, the 5-iron is a new T100, and the rest of the set consists of 631.CY prototypes (6-9), all equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 shafts. The prototype irons look almost identical to the 620 MBs, with some small tweaks to weight and lie angle.
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM10 (48-10F, 52-12F, 56-14F @57), WedgeWorks (60-K* @62)
Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold X7
Around the greens, Young plays four Vokey wedges. He plays three Vokey SM10 models with lofts of 48 degrees, 52 degrees, 56-degree at 57 degrees and a Vokey WedgeWorks custom 60-degree that plays at 62 degrees. The 60-degree also features a unique variety of the K grind similar to the low-bounce K grind that Titleist released this year.
The club that helped Young get over the finish line the most this week was the putter. Young led the field in strokes gained: putting, using his Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 Tour Prototype. The Phantom 9.5 Prototype Young games is similar to the Phantom X 9.5, though there are differences in both the loft/lie specs and the alignment visuals.
It is also worth noting that Young made a ball change prior to this week. He was originally using the Pro V1 left dot, but decided to make a change to a Pro V1x prototype this week.
Miyu Yamashita Fends Off Challengers for Women’s Open Win
This weekend turned out to be a fairly significant one in the life of Miyu Yamashita. She turned 24 years old on Saturday, and followed that up by winning her first LPGA Tour event and first major championship at the AIG Women’s Open.
The rookie from Japan bolted out to a large lead after rounds of 68 and 65 on Thursday and Friday. However, a third-round 74 narrowed the gap heading into the final round.
Yamashita maintained her lead throughout the final round, though a number of players took their swings at the lead. A Lim Kim trailed by just one entering the final round, but made too many bogeys to muster a real challenge. Charley Hull, playing in front of a hometown crowd, posed the biggest threat. She was -5 through 15 holes for the round and had vaulted to 11-under and within one of the lead, but bogeys at 16 and 17 brought Hull back to -9.
In the end, Yamashita fired a final-round 70 that included three birdies on the front nine to keep control of the tournament and ultimately win her first major championship.
WInner’s Bag | Miyu Yamashita
Yamashita earned her first LPGA Tour victory and first major victory with almost exclusively Srixon and Cleveland clubs in the bag.

Driver: Srixon ZXi
Yamashita is not the longest hitter on tour, but she is among the most accurate. This week, she hit 39 of 56 fairways with her Srixon ZXi driver, equipped with a Fujikura Speeder NX Green 40 SR shaft.
Fairway Woods: Srixon ZX MK II
Yamashita opts for the previous generation of Srixon fairway metals. She, like many LPGA Tour pros, plays multiple fairway woods to take advantage of the higher launch and spin available with higher lofted woods. She has a Srixon MK II 3-wood at 15 degrees and a MK II 5-wood at 18 degrees in the bag, both equipped with Fujikura Speeder NX Green 50 SR shafts.
Hybrids: Srixon ZX MK II
Similar to the fairway woods, Yamashita has two hybrids in the bag, both in the prior generation model. She plays a 22-degree and 25-degree Srixon ZX MK II hybrid, each with a Fujikura Ventus Blue HB 7S shaft.
Irons: Srixon ZXi5 (5-6), Srixon ZXi7 (7-PW)
It’s been a banner year for the Srixon ZXi irons. Yamashita opts for the popular combo of ZXi5 at the top of her set and ZXi7 in her scoring clubs. Of note, Yamashita plays the True Temper Dynamic Gold 85 R300 shafts.
Wedges: Cleveland RTZ
Yamashita made clutch save after clutch save all weekend long to keep her lead. She plays three Cleveland RTZ wedges – a 48-degree of the standard design, and then a 52-degree and 58-degree in the RTZ Tour Rack design, all equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold R300 shafts.
Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour L-Neck
The one club in Yamashita’s bag that is not Cleveland or Srixon is the putter – a TaylorMade Spider Tour L-Neck, similar to the setup used by the No. 1 men’s player in the world, Scottie Scheffler.
