Cobra KING SpeedZone Driver
Who’s It For?
Cobra has built off the success achieved by the F9 Speedback woods with the release of the SpeedZone series in 2020. The SpeedZone driver includes front-to-back weighting adjustability along the sole for golfers who like to customize the center of gravity. Additionally, of the two SpeedZone drivers Cobra has released in 2020, the standard SpeedZone model features a more traditional shape that is designed to produce lower spin and lower launch. For those looking for more of an emphasis on forgiveness, the Cobra SpeedZone Xtreme might be a better fit.
The Tech Story
The F9 Speedback driver was unique in that it featured a CNC milled clubface. The SpeedZone driver has improved upon that with the development of the CNC Milled Infinity Face, which stretches over the topline and underneath the leading edge into the sole. This expands the area of the clubface that is at the legal speed limit, maximizing ball speed on all types of contact. Meanwhile, a newly-designed T-Bar Speed Chassis is lighter and stronger, allowing it to take on higher speed collisions and deliver excellent stability. To save 25 grams of weight that has been redistributed low and to the perimeter of the clubhead, Cobra built a 360 carbon wrap crown that covers 50 percent of the body. Returning from the Speedback model in the SpeedZone models is the 69 grams of mass that’s positioned as low as possible to generate an efficient energy transfer. The aerodynamic shape from Speedback has also been included in the SpeedZone models and updated with milled perimeter leading edges to create maximum airflow and acceleration power.
