TaylorMade Original One Mini Driver
Who’s It For?
When TaylorMade introduced the Pittsburgh Persimmon in 1979, the first metalwood played on the PGA Tour, the company began a path to dominance in the metalwood market. Now, 40 years later, TaylorMade is celebrating its success with the release of the TaylorMade Original One Mini Driver. The club is packed with all of the latest in TaylorMade metalwood technology with old school aesthetics and size. This club works as a combination of a driver and a fairway wood, so golfers searching for an option that offers driver-like distance and forgiveness from both the tee and the turf will enjoy the Original One Mini Driver.
The Tech Story
The Original One Mini Driver features some old school shaping and aesthetics combined with a couple of new innovations found in other TaylorMade metalwoods. Twist Face technology has been incorporated into the Original One, which includes a clubface that is slightly open along the toe and slightly closed along the heel to counter the heel-fade and toe-hook misses. The sole also features a Speed Pocket, one of TaylorMade’s new technologies that is designed for additional flexibility below the center of the face to generate distance with less backspin. The clubhead is made of three different materials: titanium, steel (50-gram sole plate), and carbon (on the crown). The steel sole plate helps position the center of gravity low and slightly forward in the head to create high launch with low spin. Additionally, TaylorMade added adjustability with a 12-position Loft Sleeve, allowing up to four degrees of adjustability from the standard loft.
Quotable
“In 1979, golf was changed forever with the introduction of the Pittsburgh Persimmon -- the original metalwood. For the past 40 years, TaylorMade has continued that legacy of innovation with game-changing technologies engineered to help golfers perform at their best. The Original One Mini Driver incorporates that heritage of innovation with key performance technologies packed into a confidence-inspiring shape that delivers on distance, forgiveness, and accuracy.” Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade Senior Director of Product Creation
